We have recycling bins located throughout the venue, including recycling containers for cigarettes in the courtyard. Most of our Friday and Saturday parties are themed, and we do encourage our guests to dress in creative outfits and costumes. Do your best to match the theme of the night, but anything that displays effort will do.

"Pro-housing policies are not just about solving today's housing crisis; they're about securing a future for generations to come. By prioritizing affordable housing, we ensure that New Yorkers in need have access to stable homes and the opportunity to thrive," said Jerrod Delaine, CEO, The Delaine Companies. The rooms were rented to artists, musicians, dancers and creatives who became family, collectively hosting dinner parties, movie screenings, yoga mornings and monthly dance parties. Every week, the House of Yes collective invited the extended community over for Make Fun Sewing Nights (Tuesdays) and Circus Skill Share nights (Wednesdays). Anya’s Best Friend from High School Kae Burke had moved in,  and everyone lived happily forever and ever… until April 22nd, 2008 when a kitchen fire turned the candy-colored bohemian paradise into a blazing inferno.

City of Yes for Housing Opportunity is the most pro-housing set of zoning changes in New York's history. "For far too long, efforts to create and provide affordable housing have been nothing less than a 'City of No,'" said Mayor's Office of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships Executive Director Pastor Gilford T. Monrose. "'City of Yes for Housing Opportunity' is a bold initiative aimed at revitalizing New York's housing landscape," said First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright.

The different presale ticket tiers (or sometimes called “releases’) simply indicate when you’ve purchased the ticket. Ticket prices increase as you get closer to the event date – corresponding to an increased ticket tier. All ticket tiers grant the same level access to the party. Purchase the tier that you corresponds to what you can afford. All of our dance party events are 21+ unless otherwise specified as “All Ages." For 21+ events and parties, all guests must show government issued photo ID to security upon entry. "Mayor Adam's visionary City of Yes for Housing Opportunity proposal champions a greener, fairer New York City," said Dan Kaplan FAIA, senior partner, FXCollaborative Architects.

"Through comprehensive and common-sense zoning reforms, it will transform the New York City Zoning Resolution into a tool to realize a more affordable and sustainable future for all New Yorkers." "New York City has to build its way out of this housing crisis. City of Yes for Housing Opportunity will cut the time and the cost needed to get new apartments built for New Yorkers," said David Schwartz, principal and co-founder, Slate Property Group. "I'm excited to see Mayor Adams and the Department of City Planning pushing the envelope so we can build better and faster." Sound systems and sewing machines became molten plastic and costumes and bedrooms turned to colorless ash. Although the rest of the residents made it out alive, they had lost not only their possessions but also their creative homes and art space.

The goal was to build a true creative live-work space that could host an occasional dance party or circus class. Walls were torn down, kitchens were installed, studios were created, stages were built. After deliberating names such as “Crystal Palace” and “Troutwick Bushman” the House of Yes was eventually dubbed “House of Yes”. "Along with the preservation and enforcement of tenant protections, the expansion of the supply of available housing options is one of the most important strategies for addressing New York City's ongoing housing affordability crisis," said Aaron Carr, founder and executive director, Housing Rights Initiative. "To that end, Housing Rights Initiative is pleased to endorse City of Yes. We are especially pleased to see that the proposal includes a diversity of policies tailored to the existing built environments of different neighborhoods. This will help ensure that each and every neighborhood can equitably contribute to the shared responsibility of expanding our city's housing supply."

Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood was not House of Yes’ first home. In 2007, the circus extravaganza found shelter in a gritty underground theater in Queens. From its exciting activities to its awe-inspiring interiors, House of Yes is sure to tantalize your senses and deliver an unforgettable experience. Immerse yourself in a world of glittery enchantment and mesmerizing lights.

There’s a Midnight Pasta Party This Weekend

House of Yes will take you to an alternate realm with twinkling disco balls, luscious laser beams, contemporary artwork suspended from the ceiling, and a spectacular sound system. This bright artistry mirrors the club’s purposeful message – one that resonates beauty through every corner of its exterior. In 2007, Kae Burke and Anya Sapozhnikova started House of Yes with the mission to embrace artistic expression while organizing remarkable parties. It’s a great option if you’re looking for live music, light snacks, or a bottomless brunch.

House of Yes is an aerial circus burlesque dance club in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Varenichnaya’s name translates to “dumpling house,” and, as such, was known for its Russian dumplings and pelmeni; it also served dishes Uzbek and Serbian dishes, and at least at one point, had a BYOB policy. Several years ago, the restaurant traded out its original location 3086 Brighton Second Street, for a larger space at 504 Brighton Beach Avenue. When walking down Church Street in Tribeca, keep an eye out for a black door with a cryptic white sign that reads THE DREAM HOUSE.

NEW YORK – New York City Mayor Eric Adams today rallied with working-class New Yorkers to kickoff the start of public review on "City of Yes for Housing Opportunity," the most pro-housing proposal in New York City's history. The proposal would enable the creation of "a little more housing in every neighborhood" through a set of carefully crafted zoning changes – which has not been done in more than half a century – to increase overall housing supply. The New York City Department of City Planning (DCP) released the draft environmental impact statement of the proposal, which estimates it could produce as many as 108,850 new homes over the next 15 years. As New York City faces a generational housing crisis with just a 1.4 percent rental vacancy rate, the Adams administration is proposing bold, forward-thinking solutions to deliver the housing that New Yorkers need.

On other days of the week, wear whatever makes you feel fun, fresh, funky and fabulous. We put a lot of love into our parties, and the energy of the night is incredible when everyone is committed to participating and getting creative with us. City of Yes for Housing Opportunity is the third of the Adams administration's three "City of Yes" initiatives to update New York City's zoning for a more sustainable, prosperous, and affordable city. The first – "City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality"– was adopted by the City Council in December. The second – "City of Yes for Economic Opportunity" was approved by the CPC on March 6 and is now being considered by the City Council. As quarantine set in, everyone from the bartenders to the bouncers to the event producers had to be let go.

Although this is not your typical dream house with a 4-door garage, it guarantees to be a one-of-a-kind experience, with its completely absorbing, constantly fluctuating sound waves accompanied by neon pink reflections of light. House of Yes was created in 2007 by Kae Burke and Anya Sapozhnikova, two best friends who just wanted to make art and have a good time. With lots of help and lots of love, the original idea of House of Yes have transformed into a reality beyond what anyone ever imagined. But when the city shut down in March to stop the spread of the coronavirus, so did House of Yes. The club, set on a formerly industrial stretch of Bushwick, had grown from a self-described “hippie-punk squat” in 2007 to a vital part of New York City’s queer nightlife scene, with about 100 employees on the payroll. Dress code for the first event, which kicks off at 3pm is “whatever makes you feel good” from festival fabulous to summer chic, with suggested attire including caftans, funky fruit and florals, comfy shoes, parasols, sexy sunnies, playa style and beyond.

Inspired by the encouragement and support of New York’s underground arts community, House of Yes continued and decided to seek a new home. The response was overwhelming, as people came to epic fundraiser events and donated funds that created just enough money for a security deposit on a new space. House of Yes nightclub is a beacon for the LGBT+ community, offering an all-inclusive and safe place for self-expression. Located in Bushwick, Brooklyn this iconic venue proudly celebrates marginalized individuals from all backgrounds, creating joy and unity among the people of New York City. This is the third incarnation of the House of Yes—the first one was in a Bed-Stuy basement and was mostly a spot for wild underground parties.

Walls got torn to make space for theatrical stages, while cultural barriers were broken to create a safe and all-inclusive space. But House of Yes had to change its location a year after, when a fire almost destroyed the building. Less than two months later, House of Yes relocated to a former ice-house in East Williamsburg.
